ANOTHER POST-APOCALYPTIC COMMUNITY

Last night's dream was almost a continuation of the one the night before. Again, there's a feeling of a post-apocalyptic life. This time I'm staying in a huge home - actually more like a castle complex - with some family and friends. There is talk that some of us must be relocated, and we are not willing to have this happen.

The cohesion of the dream is rather lost, but here are some images I still retain from it:

**I have a daughter and son in this dream that are not part of my "real life". I am settling my daughter into bed and she tells me that her brother is very controlling and is not happy that she is still unmarried. He told her, she continues, that he was going to marry her himself just to minimize the family shame. She looks to be about 13, and I tell her that this will this rape and incest will not happen.

**I climb the stairs to the rooftop, which is more like a castle rampart, and stand on the very edge. I remember other times when I stood at similar heights and then just flew away. "It's been a long time since I've done that", I think to myself, and gather myself for the launch. Another woman sees me and becomes very concerned about my actions, totally misunderstanding them. However, rather than upset her more, I just climb down and hug her. Then I begin to tell her of what I can do...

**There is rising tension in our community, and we all shrink back into corners as a group of soldiers march through the compound. They are chasing one particular person, another young man, and catch him easily. As they bind his hands, I see that they are very webbed, as though he is an aquatic being. A strong feeling goes through me - one of hatred towards those who think "different" is "wrong", because it's obvious that this is part of the situation - the eradication of alien or mutated life.

**Back in the castle, and with my group, another family unit is struggling with something. It appears that a young man is missing. I am with another girl (it is her brother that's missing) reading a book - it has a purple cover that matches the purple prose within, but what is most interesting is that it reads like a diary of my dearest friend. I can hardly put it down, and my friend also is intrigued, begging me to turn back a page so she can re-read a particularly juicy part. Just then, her brother returns, gloriously naked, from having a bath. His sculpted body is still wet in spots. I do not cover up my interest quickly enough, uttering "oh...my... uhm..." or something equally as intelligent, while my friend just shrugs. It's obvious she's seen her brother too often to react.

=======

A couple of interesting things about this dream:

1. The brother and sister theme that occurs twice here - Again, I have to thank (or blame) Kenny Klein for this. I am reading his book, "Fairy Tale Rituals" right now and he spoke of that duality, that mirror-image, often enough in it to make an impact on me. It's hardly as perverse as it sounds above. For that I can blame (or thank!) my own twisted brain - lol!

2. The idea of flight - it's been a very long time since I flew in my dreams and I am delighted to see it come up again, even though I never actually stepped off the ledge. Hopefully, this will come back to me soon.
