OF PLANTS, AND SPIDERS AND MONKEYS, OH MY!

It was a very restless night, mainly because of me being stressed out over work today. There was a large chunk of time when I didn't sleep at all, and then, around 4:00 a.m., I finally fell back asleep...:

... and find myself waking up in a beautiful cottage. The light is just starting to break through. I am still tired and know I can sleep a bit longer and decide to do just that. But just as I am settling in again, I feel something that is very foreign to me - my ex-husband pressing against me. I tell him to leave me alone, that I am very tired and need to sleep more, while he makes conciliatory noises, "oh, my dear, you still tired?" and "I know that you want to sleep more", all the while becoming more amorous. Suddenly, I wake up enough to realize what is going on, and jump out of bed. I am furious that he has violated my space again in this way and tell him to get out.

This is the first time I look around the cottage and through the window outside. It is a beautiful place, full of plants and flowers, and green lawns. Early though it is, I see a group of women gather around a large table with their tea, and slipping into a housecoat, I go out to join them. My ex mutters something about me not wanting to be touched again, and I just laugh as I shut the door.

It's a lovely day, the sun just coming over the horizon, and I walk over and join the group of women. As I sit down, I notice that some of the plants around us are mine, and they're in need of being watered and I feel anxious about this. I mention this but the women tell me to sit and have my tea. The plants will be taken care of soon. Indeed, a few minutes later, we all get up and carefully, but with a deep sense of community, take care of watering everything.

As I am doing so around the cottage, I see a beautiful spider web in one corner. It is iridescent and catches the light with bursts of rainbow glints. Hoping this will encourage the spider to emerge, I blow on the web gently, and indeed, from the recessed corner of the cottage, the spider darts out into the centre of the web. It is about an inch long in body, an is a shimmering green-brown in colour. Seeing that there is no meal there, it continues to skitter to the edge of the web and jumps onto my knee. I laugh, knowing it will do me no harm - further, it's almost like a known pet on the property. After a moment or so, it jumps back onto the web and disappears into its corner.

Knowing that my ex has finally left me alone, I go into my cottage again, and debate as to whether to go back to bed or get dressed for the day. Before I can reach a decision, I see something through the window that makes me go outside again quickly. A little ways off, I see a young boy, about 9 years old, playing with an animal that I cannot identify. It's brown and shaggy, with a long tail. At times it looks like a bear and other times like a monkey. The animal is tethered to a pole on a long leash. It appears very affectionate with the boy. As I draw closer, I see that it is indeed a monkey, and it's gentle behaviour is evidenced as it reaches for my hand.
